Welcome to the 2024 Black People’s Guide for Juneteenth in Kansas City!

This year, we’ve curated an electrifying lineup of events to celebrate the pursuit of Black liberation, our wondrous culture, and our beautiful community. From vibrant heritage festivals to powerful marches, and interactive educational forums to jubilant street fairs, we have something for everyone.

Join us as we honor our ancestors, celebrate the history of radical Black resistance, and enjoy the rich cultural tapestry of our community.

Cultural, Community and Family Events

Juneteenth Freedom Day Cookout

  • Date/Time: Saturday, June 22, 2024, 5:00 PM -9:00 PM
  • Description: Join us to celebrate the history of radical Black resistance, a revolutionary panel from various Abolitionists organizations in the city discussing what freedom and Black liberation mean in today’s ongoing struggle – and how we move forward in a time where such spaces for Black joy and resilience are needed more than ever. They’ll also be open to questions and comments from the community.
