Lynnie Holl is an emerging freelance writer based in Kansas City, Missouri. They recently completed the Kansas City Defender’s inaugural fellowship program for young writers, which concluded in December 2023. As a fellow, Lynnie wrote articles that showcased the stories and voices of the Kansas City community and also touched on national headlines that explored local leadership’s connection to the occupation of Palestine.

Lynnie is currently a Breaking News Reporter for The Defender.

In their free time, Lynnie focuses on creative writing, including poetry and short stories. As a freelance writer, they honed their writing skills at coffee shops and cafes. Currently, Lynnie is working on completing and publishing two short stories. The first is titled “My Blind, Blue Eye,” a reflective tale of a young child who must discover self-confidence after a medical circumstance takes away her shine. The second is “Pork Skinned Trench Lighter,” a story about a young boy and his uncle embarking on a journey of self-discovery.
