Early voting is open now through Monday, Nov 2. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov 3.

Missouri votes on Tuesday, November 3, and this ballot will shape Kansas City for years. Abortion rights, the congressional map that splits Kansas City at Troost, the power of voters to pass their own laws, and ten more years of COMBAT are all on it.

So we built a guide for it. The People’s Ballot is The Kansas City Defender’s guide to the November 3 election: every statewide measure, Jackson County’s COMBAT question, and the races on your ballot, explained in plain language and rooted in the history this state would rather you forget.

What’sInside

Where we stand

As a nonprofit newsroom, we don’t endorse candidates. On ballot measures, we can take a side, and we do. Tap any measure for the full briefing.

On COMBAT, we lay out the whole ledger, every dollar to the jail and every dollar to treatment, and explain why the real fight starts after the vote.

Vote early. Don’t vote alone.

Bring three people. Drive an elder. Text your group chat your polling place. Then send them the guide.
